Compromises

A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough. -- Galatians 5:9

How far are we willing to compromise ourselves in order to please others? This is a question we should all ask ourselves.

In a world of political correctness, christians are becoming more and more “tolerant” and lukewarm. Though tolerance might be good in most cases (but never toward sin); the Bible is clear about lukewarmness. The Lord said to the Church of Laodicea in Revelation 3:15-16: “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth”.
What a terrible thing to be rejected by the Holy One, but this is what we are all exposed to if we don’t live our christian lives with zeal and boldness for the Lord.

“If you compromise yourself, I will destroy you!”
I heard these dreadful words in a dream during our family’s annual fast last January. In that dream, I was in the living room of a friend and brother in the Lord and other people from different faiths were also present. We were all seated around what seemed to be an oval table, Christians on the right and the others on the left. Then, the voices of the people in the room started to raise and they sang what sounded to me like a song of worship.

We were all singing, without great conviction I must say, when in a spirit of ecumenism they started to mention the names of the different gods of the people assembled in the room. “Allah is my god” some would say and everybody to repeat in chorus “Allah is my god”.

I couldn’t say these things.

As I stood up and attempted to leave the room, my friend – obviously embarrassed by what I was doing – grabbed my arm and tried to force me to stay. I fought to free my arm from him and left the room shouting: “Allah is not my god, why would I say that”; “I don’t want to be part of this”.

I went outside, and one of my sisters in Christ – wondering why I was so upset – followed me. She rebuked me about what just happened, saying that everybody was embarrassed by my behavior. Shortly after the same brother joined us and both tried to convince me to go back inside and apologize.
I refused and told them “I was sitting at this same place (the place where we were standing talking) one morning when the Lord told me in a vision: ‘If you compromise yourself I will destroy you'”.

I was still talking when the spirit that was presiding the meeting appeared before us and came against me. I rebuked it in the name of my Lord and Savior Jesus-Christ and it uttered roars then vanished in flames. The end.

Sometimes we are willing to compromise on things that seem no big of a deal at all in our eyes, like laughing at a gross joke, even when it involves the precious name of Jesus; Doing something anyway when deep down the Holy Spirit convinces us it is wrong; Reading astrological prediction; Wearing these sexy and revealing clothes; Being involved in Halloween celebration when we know it is pure evil worship; Listening to these “cool” songs from Beyonce, when we know there is nothing godly about her work; or practicing yoga as part of your healthy routine.
The list goes on… And we should know that by doing these “small” things we put our salvation in serious jeopardy.

I often hear people say “there is one God, Muslims, Christian, we all pray the same god”. No! Let’s be bold enough to answer that he who does not recognize Jesus as the Lamb of God, slain for the sins of the whole world cannot be worshiping the same God as us.
Ecumenism is nothing but an diabolic invention that helps dilute the truth of the Bible by adding a strange fire to the altar of our worship. God, our God has nothing to do with that.

Jesus said to his disciples in Matthew 16:6: “Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.”. In the same way Paul wrote to the Galatians: “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough” Galatians 5:9.

The yeast here is everything added to the Gospel that leads us into compromise and makes the whole thing spoiled and unacceptable to the Lord.
Though the yeast may raise the bread and make it more attractive to a larger crowd, Jesus, the living bread (John 6:51) has enough consistency in purity by himself to satisfy whoever comes to Him.
